Yoga for Seniors
Yoga for Seniors
December 13 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm EST
An event every week that begins at 4:00pm on Thursday, repeating until December 27, 2018
This class aims to foster joint health, breath, increased circulation and mobility with yoga technique. Participants can choose to be seated in a chair or on a floor mat. Kristen offers a practice centered around alignment and safety, encouraging participants to modify intensity according to present ability and preference. While it is widely accepted that yoga can improve strength, flexibility, and endurance, studies have also found that regular practice may help:
- Lower the risk of cardiovascular disease
- Recovery from strokes and surgery
- Prevent falls
- Manage arthritis, pain and inflammation
- Improve sleep quality
- Manage depression and anxiety
One of the unique things about yoga is that unlike most physical sports you can start at any age. You don’t need to be physically fit or active to take up yoga. It is a very gentle technique helping to release stiffness and tension from all parts of the body and is ideal for seniors. Whether you’re 55 or 85, it is never too late!
