What is Chiropractic?

Chiropractic is a form of manual medicine used to restore proper biomechanical motion into a joint that is not moving efficiently. Chiropractic adjustments can be used on any joint in the body, not just the spine. Adjustments may be the primary treatment, or a supplemental tool in the treatment of neuromusculoskeletal disorders.

What to Expect

Chiropractic treatment at Evolve Health + Wellness begins with a neurologic and orthopedic examination to determine the source of pain. This is followed by the use of functional movement screens – such as gait, squat, breathing, and repetitive range of motion analysis – to assess ways in which the body may be compensating in the presence of pain. A global picture of the body’s biomechanical state of health is determined before treatment is administered.

Treatments may include manipulation of joints, manipulation of soft tissue or myofascial release, kinesiotaping, and functional rehabilitation to stabilize problem areas. Tools such as wedges, blocks, or bolsters may also be used to assist in re-aligning the body into proper positioning.

Does it hurt?

Generally speaking, people experience immediate relief upon restoring normal function to a joint or series of joints that have been causing pain. The adjustments themselves are achieved by manually taking parts of the body through normal ranges of motion, and are therefore safe.

Pain is the body’s way of saying there is something wrong. Restoring function of the neuromusculoskeletal system will allow the body to move more efficiently and pain free.
